STONY BROOK, NY -- StatBroadcast Systems reached agreement with the State University of New York at Stony Brook, also referred to as Stony Brook University, to use its StatMonitr media stats platform for home athletic events during the 2012-13 academic year.
Stony Brook University is the flagship university of the the State University of New York system and is located in Stony Brook, New York, 50 miles east of Manhattan. It was founded in 1957 and enrolls more than 24,500 students. The Stony Brook Seawolves compete at the NCAA Division-I level as a member of the America East Conference in all sports except for football, where they compete as an associate member of the Big South Conference in the FCS subdivision. In 2011, the Seawolves qualified for the NCAA Football Championship tournament for the first time in their 12 year history at the Division-I level. The Seawolves men's basketball team has won two regular season conference championships (2010 and 2012) since joining the America East in 2005. This past June, Stony Brook won its second straight America East championship in baseball and "shocked the world" by defeating national-seed LSU at their home park in the SuperRegional to advance to the school's first appearance in the College World Series; the Seawolves were ranked No. 7 in the final NCBWA poll, their highest ranking ever.
